Hedry hosts Tom Sleigh for City of London Breakfast Roundtable

Hedry hosted Tom Sleigh, Chair of the City of London’s Planning & Transportation Committee, for his first industry roundtable in the role.

Held at The Ivy City Garden, the breakfast brought together leading developers, planners and advisors for an open discussion on the future of the Square Mile.

Tom shared reflections on his first month as Chair, including his ambitions to see “the most beautiful and future-ready buildings in the country” rise in the City, and his focus on design quality, heritage and the evolving role of culture and public realm in shaping successful places.

The conversation touched on a wide range of topics, from the Destination City strategy and the shift to more diverse uses—including new hotels and cultural spaces—to the need for retrofitting, sustainable design, and public realm improvements.

Tom was refreshingly open in listening to views from across the industry on what is working well and where there are opportunities to do things differently.

Tom Sleigh said:

“It was a pleasure to join such a thoughtful discussion. Listening to perspectives from across the sector is essential as we look to deliver the best outcomes for the City—earning the commute and ensuring the Square Mile remains a place people want to work, visit and enjoy.”

Nathan Parsad-Wyatt, Director at Hedry, commented:

“It was brilliant to host Tom for his first roundtable as Chair. His openness and willingness to listen set exactly the right tone, and it was clear there’s a genuine appetite to work together to make the City an even more dynamic, welcoming place. Thanks to everyone who joined us for such a constructive discussion.”

Hedry will continue to bring people together to share ideas and help shape the future of the built environment.
